Research

OLE is being used in research settings to assist language preservation and revitilization experts. The initial research projects that will help to establish the protocols for using OLE will be with Native American language experts. In the fall of 2007 OLE personnel will work with Native American Language experts for testing OLE in this area. OLE has been very briefly piloted with language researchers working with the last speakers of a Native American Language in Southern California. Based on this experience it was decided that OLE could be used for research purposes and we will move forward to

  1. establish the methods that OLE can be applied to for language research and
  2. create the requirements for changing the OLE to meet the needs of language reseachers.
